Mahakavi Vennikulam Gopalakurup Memorial Government Polytechnic College-Vennikulam

Mahakavi Vennikulam Gopalakurup Memorial Polytechnic College, Vennikulam, holds the distinction of being the first professional institution in Engineering/Technology under the Government Sector in Pathanamthitta district. Established in 1984 by the Government of Kerala, the institution is situated in Vennikulam in Puramattom Grama Panchayath of Mallappally Thaluk, a rural area in Pathanamthitta district.

The college commenced its operations in its own building in 1996. Pathanamthitta, known for its diversity, serves as a district with a significant population of Non-Resident Indians and educationally backward classes, including Adivasis. The campus of Mahakavi Vennikulam Gopalakurup Memorial Polytechnic College spans over an area of 4.29 hectares, situated along the banks of the river Manimala.

Accessible with a twenty-minute journey from Thiruvalla railway/bus station, the college is strategically located for students from three neighboring districts—Alapuzha, Kollam, and Kottayam—who seek higher education in technology.

The institution offers diploma courses in four disciplines: Civil Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Electronics Engineering, and Computer Engineering. The main campus features a main building that houses the administrative block, including the office, Principal's Room, classrooms, and some labs. Additionally, there are four workshop/laboratory buildings on the campus, contributing to the overall infrastructure and facilities available for students' academic and practical needs.
