About Government Polytechnic College-Perinthalmanna

Government Polytechnic College, Perinthalmanna, was established in 1961 under the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Kerala, with a noble vision of providing high-quality technical education to empower individuals. Approved by the AICTE, New Delhi, the college offers four diploma programs in engineering: Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, and Electronics engineering.

Situated in Angadippuram, Perinthalmanna Taluk, Malappuram District, the college is strategically located near Angadippuram railway station and National Highway 213, spanning 8.73 hectares of lush greenery. The institution commenced with three-year diploma courses in Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical engineering, later introducing the Electronics Engineering department in 1987.

Over the past 57 years, the college has evolved into a center of excellence and is renowned as one of the most esteemed institutions in Kerala. In addition to regular courses, the college offers add-on courses and vocational programs. The CPS (Community Polytechnic Scheme), established in 1978 and renamed CDTP (Community Development through Polytechnic) in 2009-10, provides free vocational training to youngsters who may not benefit from formal education.

The college also implements the Tuition Fee Waiver Program by the AICTE, offering reservations for female students, economically disadvantaged individuals, and the physically challenged. The TGMT Centre (Institute of Fashion Designing and Technology), operating under the college's guidance, provides free training programs to girl students and reserved seats for male students.

Various initiatives, such as the Institution Project Implementation Unit and anti-ragging committee, contribute to the all-round development of the institution. The college introduced an Evening Polytechnic scheme in all branches in the 2012-13 academic year and a Community College Education & Research Scheme in 2015.

Recent developments include a separate block for the Electronics Department, a new well-furnished library building, separate restrooms for female staff and students, and an ongoing construction project for a new civil block. Since 2017, a well-equipped fitness center has been functioning in the Department of Physical Education.

The college envisions the future by learning from current challenges and shortcomings to anticipate and address the evolving needs and aspirations of future generations. This forward-looking approach ensures that Government Polytechnic College, Perinthalmanna, remains at the forefront of technical education in the country.
