Chengalpattu Medical College was established in the year 1965 when this was a District Head Quarters hospital with its building in the town in 1965.
Chengalpattu Medical College was established in the year 1965 when this was a District Head Quarters hospital with its building in the town in 1965. The Government of Tamil Nadu upgraded this District Headquarters hospital as a teaching institution with 250 beds for clinical training. Vedachalam Mudaliar, the then Chairman of Chengalpattu Municipality, donated a vast area, which is in pocession of this institution. Today the college is under the affiliation of The Tamil Nadu Dr.MGR Medical University, Chennai, State of TamilNadu, India, and is wholly administered by the Government of State of Tamil Nadu. The Institute is a Medical Teaching Institute Recognized by the Medical Council of India,New Delhi, India. The college Entrains the motto of - discipline, service and sacrifice. The Medical school trains nearly 500 Under Graduate and 100 Post Graduate from around the country in various medical departments. The college, hospital buildings and its hostels are located in a sprawling campus of 240 acres at high grounds in Chengalpattu, in the District of Kancheepuram, Tamil Nadu. The College campus is located within two kms of the Chengalpattu railway station junction, intercity bus station and 30 KM from International Airport.
The Classrooms are equipped with anatomy models, therapy equipment, and technology for lectures and practical sessions. Chengalpattu Medical College provides Occupational Therapy Lab for hands-on training with therapeutic equipment. The Library is Stocked with relevant textbooks, research journals, and resources. Chengalpattu Medical College is in Collaboration with hospitals, clinics, and rehabilitation centers for practical training. The Computer lab has access to databases, software, and resources for research and learning.
