Central Polytechnic College-Thiruvananthapuram

Established in 1958, the Central Polytechnic College in Thiruvananthapuram initially operated from the School of Arts campus, offering three-year diploma courses in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Electrical Engineering. In 1967, the college constructed its own building and relocated to Vattiyoorkavu, on the outskirts of the city, situated in an area of significant historical importance that played a crucial role in the nation's struggle for freedom.

This institution has played a pivotal role in the nation-building process and, in a short span, has become a highly sought-after technical education hub in Kerala. The sprawling 25.4-acre campus provides extensive facilities for both staff and students. To better cater to industry needs, the college later introduced additional diploma branches, including Electronics Engineering, Textile Technology, and Computer Engineering.

Presently, the Central Polytechnic College offers three-year diploma courses in six disciplines: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Textile Technology, and Computer Engineering. Each year, over 360 students from diverse backgrounds seek admission to the college.
